Art History & Art Market History
This module is designed as an intensive introduction to art history and to the history, mechanisms, and actors of the art market.
Objectives:

learn about the development of art market mechanisms and structure in early modern and modern history

study and understand marketing strategies develop by artists and their workshops, since the Renaissance
-
relate these mechanisms and strategies with today’s art market practices
-
understand the historical context of artistic practices since the rise of the avant-gardes
Evaluation: written exam
Art Law & Provenance
This module deals with art law, copyright, restitution, due diligence issues in the art market, as well as provenance research.
Objectives:
-
understand basics of law such as contract-making and property law
-
be acquainted with the liabilities of experts, auction houses and galleries
-
gain an insight into Swiss and International art market regulations
-
be introduced to provenance research
Evaluation: written exam
